Hello! I'm searching in advance about what is needed for ROC , because I have some doubts about all the documents that must be sent along with the forms.

This is what we have so far:

- Copy of my State ID.

- Copy of DMV fee payment to take the written test.

- Copy of my instruction permit.

- Copies of letters mailed to my husband

- Copies of letters mailed to me

- Copies of letters sent to both of us.

- Copies of registration payments for English school , which show my name and address.

- Copies of receipts of parcels that my mom has sent to me.

- Copies of subpoenas sent to my husband and me( to testify as witnesses in a divorce case).

- Copy of jury duty summons mailed to me.

- Joint bank account statements.

- Federal taxes for 2011 and 2012 (filled jointly).

- Copies of checks (tax refunds)

- Same for State Taxes.

- Copy of receipt of my husband's car smog inspection, showing his address.

- Copy of letter from Social Security office, when I changed my name in my SS card.

- Copy of letter from Social Security office, mailed to my husband (because he requested a copy of his SS card).

- Photos together.

I can get from our landlord a copy of the rental agreement. I can also get affidavits from our landlord and the other tennant (we're renting a bedroom).

We have hotel receipts, but even though the room was for 2 people, they only state: "GUEST: 1".

I have Disneyland tickets, but they don´t show our names, we paid cash. I also have a photo of us riding on Space Mountain. Should I attach them too?

I have train tickets , of a trip to L.A ...but we paid cash, so our names aren´t on them. Should I attach them too?

My concerning is that my name is not on my husband's car insurance and his car registration; we don´t have a joint medical and dental insurance either. (As a matter of fact, I don´t have any insurance).

Do you think we have enough documents? We want to be on the safe side !

Your lists seems to be very heavy on the "common address" type of evidence. While this is good and it's something that they will surely be looking for, a big thing they are looking for is strong evidence that the couple shares joint financial responsibility. The strongest pieces of evidence from the list are the joint bank account statements and the joint tax returns. Both of these are good but more would be best. Examples:

- joint credit card statements

- joint utility bills

- joint insurance policies (auto, health etc.)

-spouse named as beneficiary on the other spouse's employer sponsored benefits or insurance policies, e.g. health, 401K etc.

- any joint assets other than the bank account, such as car title in both names and/or car registration in both names, as well as any other jointly owned assets

These are just some examples to give you ideas. Make sure the bank statements you send cover the entire period of marriage or at least the entire period since you opened/were added to said account (e.g. you can send one statement per quarter spanning the entire period). Definitely send a copy of your lease agreement - this is strong evidence and much stronger than presenting letters sent to your address, because it shows both common address and joint financial responsibility for paying rent.

If you can supplement your package with some of the documents mentioned above or others with similar effect, you should be fine.

Good luck!

You didn't mention any kids, but if you do have any, birth certificates as well as any school records showing common participation of the parents in the child's school life, as well as parents being listed as emergency contacts for the kid(s) are also good.

Speaking of, it reminded me that some additional good evidence would be:

-spouse listed as emergency contact on the other spouse's employer record/health coverage records etc.

-any wills, deeds, power of attorneys etc. either jointly held or created from one spouse to the other

There is no hard and fast rule and no one thing alone can cause a denial, but generally speaking, the more documents you have from the above lists, the more likely you are to get a straight approval, no RFEs etc.

Thanks for your reply, Christi and Peridotgirl !

Oh well, like I said before, we don´t have any other document in which we share joint financial responsibility. We don´t have credit cards , and I'm not working currently.

We are renting a bedroom, so the landlord pays all the utility bills.

We are renting a bedroom, so the landlord pays all the utility bills.

Have the landlord sign an affidavit confirming that your bills are included in your rent amount - unless this is clearly mentioned on the lease agreement.

If you have no other evidence that proves joint financial responsibility, it might be a good idea for you and your husband to sign an affidavit explaining everything and detailing your marriage to date. It may help answer some of their questions and avoid getting an RFE/interview.
