Im just about to have my interview for k1 visa my question is, when i do my adjustment of status does it matter hat there is only 12 months left on my passport?

The only requirement is that you have 6 months left on the passport when they stick the visa in it. You can let your passport expire and then apply for a US passport after you obtain USC which is 3 years after getting your GC if still married to the same USC. The rest of the phases do not care about your passport at all--only the initial visa as you need to travel using your passport.

The US Embassy in London says you need 8 months on your passport at the visa interview.

After you get your greencard, you can renew your passport by mail through the British Embassy in Washington, DC. It takes awhile, so you wouldn't want to mail your passport off until you had completed your AOS interview and gotten your US driver license for photo id. You could change to your married name at that time too.
