We received notification that my husband's EAD is on the way, can my hubby start applying for jobs now?? Cause obviously he was approved. He would just have to use his Alien number since he cant get his S.S.N. till he has the card.

Is this right?

He can start applying for jobs but he will not be able to accept one until his EAD is on hand. There is no need to disclose it in his resume, so long as he does so during the first interview with any potential employer. Hopefully, by the time he gets to an interview he will have his EAD on hand.

He will need a SSN in order to receive any income but he can start working while he waits for his number.

Good luck!

Alien number cannot be used in lieu of an SSN on the forms etc.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

Most online job applications for unskilled jobs require the SSN. Unless the employer is someone you know personally, I doubt they would hire you before your documents are ready.

In fact, employers are even reluctant to give you qualified jobs when you don't yet have a green card even though it's illegal to discriminate based on work authorization type.

I have been abruptly turned away by 3 employers as soon as I told them I had no green card even though they seemed very interested in me until that point.
