If you are flying into Montreal for even a night and staying downtown, do not take a cab to your hotel! It is $40. It's a flat rate. No wiggle room. However you can take a bus that stops along Rene levesque both to and from the airport. It's $9 for a ticket for 24 hrs (you can buy 3 days for $18) right on the arrivals level of the airport. This ticket also let's you use any bus or metro.

Just to add it takes the same amount of time to ride the bus as the cab. The bus has special spots to out your luggage as well.

Machines that you can buy tickets at. At the farthest end of the airport to the right from arrivals. There are orange signs. :-)

Thank you for posting this info! I took the 747 Express instead of a cab and it was soooo easy. The stops are clearly indicated on the bus, the driver was announcing stops in english and french and it was only 9$ each way as opposed to a 40$ cab ride.

Also, getting your bus ticket on the arrivals level of the airport was easy too. You can pay right on the bus with coins as well. There were 3 busses waiting at the airport when I got on. So it would appear that they are quite frequent.

Thanks again!

Thought I'd save everyone $31 even if you have to walk up the street with your luggage to your hotel. Personally I'd rather walk a block or two and save the money! ;)

They used to have a Shuttle that took you from the airport to the downtown train station....then a free shuttle to the downtown hotels, was very convenient and not that pricey

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
