can someone tell me how long it usually takes to receive a letter from NVC with a new case number... i just called them and they said they sent it to me on May17 and i still didn't get it..

Why not just call ask ask for your case#. So you can proceed on scheduling your interview at your embassy.

i did!! i already have my new case number but when my fiance wanted to go do medical they wanted to see a letter from NVC

I appreciate your posting of this unfortunate delay in your journey. My fiancee' will also have to go through the US embassy in Kiev, so we feel for you two.

Based upon what you stated, I would call foul on what happened to your fiance and lodge a complaint with the embassy.

You've probably already read this, but perhaps it will be of some benefit for those "Ukrainian / US heart.gif couples" that have not.

Here's the link:

http://travel.state.gov/pdf/medical/KEV-MED-MULT-0004-1303.pdf

The US consulate in Kiev states on the above pdf file (dated march 29, 2013) and linked on their website, entitled:

"MEDICAL EXAMINATION FOR IMMIGRANTS AND K VISA APPLICANTS"

Within the third paragraph it states:

"Each applicant must present the following documentation:

International passport (for children below age 16 - travel document of a child with photo or a passport of mother/father with a child's photo)

3 full frontal view photographs 50 x 50 mm

Military service card

Vaccination chart with the seal of the issuing clinic (mandatory for immigrants, optional for K visa applicants)

Embassy case number

Should examinees require additional vaccinations administered, they will be charged for these separately."

While I can only read the English version of this document, I'm sure they took great care to make sure the Ukrainian version states the exact same requirements.

There is absolutely no mention of requiring "a letter from NVC".

If this is some sort of "new" requirement, then their documented instructions on their website should have been updated, so as to not cause such delays and/or stress and burdens upon applicants.

Based upon what you said, giving the medical examiners the Embassy case number without a letter from the NVC should have been sufficient... That is assuming all other required documents were also provided.

Good luck to you two and I hope you two get everything resolved quickly and smoothly. smile.png
