Hi all

My Fiance and I met whilst on working holiday visa in Australia. He only spent 10 months there, and has also lived in Dubai for 6 months.

We requested the London embassy as that is where we are now living, but was thinking our case will in fact go to Paris.

For the Paris embassy - the information page states police certificates are only needed where the person has resided in another country for 1 year or more? But I'm starting to read 6 months? Which is right?

And what is the situation for the London embassy?

Thanks

If he still has time to get it even he only lived in Dubai for 6 month, I'd play safe and get it now. Maybe experts from the regional forum could chime in

In fact, if you want the latest info, ask Emeline. She had her interview not long ago (a few weeks), maybe she still has the paper from packet 3 with all instruction so she tell you exactly what it says. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/156124-emeline/

I know that the info on the portal was good at my time cause I double checked with my intruction and changed whatever was not accurate anymore

Good luck in your visa journey!

Thanks CaroSL

I just posted this on another thread, but the embassy confirmed what you said;

"Well I got my answer from the Embassy in the end;

From: ParisConIV, Paris [mailto:ParisConIV@state.gov]

Subject: FW: K-1 Visa - Police Certificates

Dear Ms Clare,

Each visa applicant aged 16 years or older is required to submit a police certificate or casier judiciaire from the police authorities of: the applicants country of citizenship, current country of residence (if applicant has resided there for at least six months) and all countries where the applicant has resided for at least one year. Please see http://travel.state.gov "reciprocity by country" for more information on how to obtain a police certificate (with the exception of the United States).

Sincerely,

Immigrant Visa Section

U.S. Embassy, Paris France

Hope that's helpful to anyone else unsure.

Required for:

Country of nationality;

current residency if over 6 months; and

12 months if previously lived.

So my Fiance wont need them for his past trips as they were not 12 months.

X"
