Security check during naturalization

I am trying to understand if a sensitive specialty can cause difficulties or delays in naturalization process.

I have heard that people with specific profession (physicists, chemists, programmers in specific areas) can undergo additional administrative processing formally called "Security Advisory Opinion" during the process of receiving visa, e.g. Green Card.

But what if I already have the Green Card and now consider to change my speciality in USA to a sensitive specialty from that list. Is there a danger that in future it will cause difficulties or additional processing when I will apply for citizenship? Is there good degree of confidence that during naturalization process USCIS does not look at the specialty for "potential threats"?

I do not believe that being a scientist or a programmer will impact your citizenship proceedings on their own. Usually delays or scrutiny seems to come from other 'red flags' on the application: for example, if you have a criminal record, belonged to an organization on a watch list (Communist Party, Hezbollah, etc.), called for a revolution against a lawful government. Essentially that long list of yes-no questions may give an immigration officer pause to review your background more deeply.

But flipping professions or having a longstanding career as a physicist shouldn't make your naturalization.
