Money Order

I'm thinking about doing a money order for the fees for AOS. Just because I don't have checks and ordering them will take a while. Money Order I believe you can get right away. We are on a very limited time frame so I think this is the route I will go.

Is it okay to send 3 different "money orders?" I've heard the cap is $1000 on money orders.

So my plan was

1. I-485 for $985

2. Biometrics for $85

3. I-130 for $420

Any thoughts?

And silly question maybe but I've never used a money order... can I track it?

Yes you can tract your money order (is trackable). If I was you I will only buy them from a bank or grocery store( Publix, Walmart etc).

My bank allows you to get what are called counter checks. These are checks drawn on your checling account so you can track them just like any check you write. You go up and ask for one and walk out with one (or two)--my bank gives you 2 for $2 so they are actually cheaper than a money order. I only use money orders when the payee insists on money orders only--like the Embassy of Kazakhstan for a visitors visa.

It should only be 2 bank drafts 1 for the total of AOS and 1 for the I-130. But you can try doing 3. I have seen people get RFE for the correct payment when sending 3 payments.

You can do 3. I sent in 3 also 1 for $420, 1 for $1000 and another for $70, but you can separate yours as stated. I got no RFE with regards to fees....

So just to be sure... we are allowed to use money orders or counter(cashier) checks? Aside from personal check obviously.
