My wife wants to change her passport to her married name. We live in New Jersey. How long does it take once you apply for the passport name change? I believe she will have to apply at the Philippine consulate in New York.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12
NOA2 8/16/12
NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12
Manila Embassy received 9/5/12
Visa appointment & approval 9/7/12
Arrived in US 10/5/2012
Married 11/24/2012
AOS application sent 12/19/12

AOS approved 8/24/13

Yup she will have to do it in person at the consulate or if they have an outreach program near you do it then. You will have to do the Report Of Marriage at the same time as you change the name on the name on the passport.

Once its all done it will take 4 - 6 weeks before the new passport arrives, at least that was about the time frame when my wife updated her passport.

Did you do this through the outreach or did you go to the consulate? Also, which form did you use for the passport name change - the renewal form or amendment form? I notice there are different fees - $60 for the former, $20 for the latter.

We did everything during an outreach event.

For the passport you do a re-newal. You will also have to do the report of marriage.

Everything is on the consulate website.
