Working overseas before application is made

My line of work involves a lot of overseas travel, although usually only for a few days at a time. However, I have now been given the opportunity to be based at an overseas office in the Middle East for about a year. This is very appealing to me because of the wonderful experience it would be and also the money is very good.

I'm wondering how a year so far from home would be viewed when we apply for the CR-1 visa. We're not married yet - we are getting married in December and will be applying for the CR-1 when my fiancé has finished school and is earning the required amount.

if the job is for about a year, i would say GO FOR IT. Are you the beneficiary or petitioner because the beneficiary is not required to earn any specific amount. Just make sure petitioner maintains domicile in the US like lease, bank accounts etc you could always send your petition from abroad as long as you will be interviewing at the appropriate embassy/consulate where you have legal residence, as required in most countries.

Your immigration plans has no specific timeline as of now so you are good to take your job offer.

Thank you so much! I'm the beneficiary. Currently I earn more than him as I am working full time and he hasn't finished school yet and is doing little part time jobs to pay his bills but not enough to put him over the required threshold. That's why we'll be waiting. We are in no hurry. Well, we do want to be together as soon as possible but we know these things take time and we can still visit and spend time together until it is all finalised.

I imagine I will need to get a police check done in the UAE because I will have lived and worked there by the time we do my application?
