I just called NVC and was not even expecting it but just got my case number!!!

Does this mean we can call and make an appt with the US embassy in Dublin, Ireland? Does anyone have any info on the Dublin embassy. My fiance is an UK and Irish citizen but lives in Northern Ireland and we decided to put the Dublin Embassy for his interview.

I already have the link the the embassy info here on VJ. Has anyone gone through this embassy ...what kind of information should my fiance should bring etc....

Thanks!!

The Dublin website says you have to wait on a letter from the embassy. Have you confirmed that they will process the case for persons not actually currently living in the country and they will mail all correspondence to NI?

He is living in Northern Ireland. The case number starts with DBL which I am guessing it means "Dublin." We are hoping they will accept it. Has anyone applying for the K1 visa with the English passport interviewed in the Dublin Embassy?

i don't know. If you actually resided in Ireland, then you could process there with any passport ...British, French, Brazilian...

Northern Ireland residents are supposed to process in London. Send a message to the mod Penguin_ie, who is from Ireland. She likely can offer insight. Here's her profile http://www.visajourney.com/forums/user/38658-penguin-ie/

Also a phone call or email to the embassy in Dublin might help. Ask if you do not currently reside in Ireland, will they process a K1 visa there. If no, then ask how to get the file that is being sent there transferred to London.

The thing I wonder about is each place has their set-up for various parts. Like London has a specific contracted courier to deliver the passport back . Would they go to Germany, just because a German resident chose London? Would the embassy mail letters of instruction and appointments to Spain because a Spaniard chose London. I don't know the answer, I was only questioning if you had checked the facts before diverting from standard protocol.

If I remember correctly, member Speedwell is from NI and their case got sent to Dublin by mistake on the part of NVC. They had put London on the petition. She could tell you how they got the file to London and how long it took, if it turns out Dublin is the wrong place.

Thanks!

I will get my fiance to call the Dublin Embassy and see what they say. We put down Dublin because its so expensive to fly to London last minute for an interview plus the costs of hotel and transportation, etc... and its only a short drive to Dublin. Hopefully they will take it. I wish when the K1 is processed for the NOA2 they would tell you if that embassy is ok or not etc....

Ill also message the members you recommended! Thanks!

Grats! Based on our experience my Fiance has a DUB number as well but lives in Northern Ireland (uk) They do the interviews based off of where you reside , so if he resides in the UK he will have to go to London. Yeah we got that surprise as well . Your packet will come from London if you are meant to go there it is what happened to us , and confused us as we thought because he holds his Irish passport he could go to Dublin , no such luck dosnt matter what passport you hold ... It was indeed expensive ! Good Luck!

Bkelly, so your packet got send to the Dubblin embassy and they didn't accept it? How did you get it to London? Do you have to take the medical and back ground check in London? Or can you do that in Northern Ireland. Did switching embassy's delay the process for you?

Just going to follow up on this message , even though we spoke in private. Incase someone else in this same predicament comes across this post. Im not sure if the packet got sent to Dublin first or what happened. We assumed maybe Dublin refused it , and forwarded it to London ... Our first letter from the NVC said we would interview in Dublin Ireland , then we got "packet 3" or if you will the letter of the forms to download via the embassy websight , and notice of readiness that you send back to the embassy . It had the London address on it , so you can imagine our confusion ... We called the London embassy to double check it took about 5 days of time to get the answer (that we had to go to London) . On the packet or letter they send from the Embassy it will tell you to schedule your medical prior to the interview. They will not set an interview date until the medical is done and the results sent to the embassy which only takes a few days . You must have your police certificate first (I would get 2 copies) Before you can schedule your interview . You must also pay the visa fee online , print the payment form out after paid for , it will have a bar code on it . The embassy will want that. The police certificate is done through an online service , not through the police department as we found out later on , after already getting one from the local police department . It has to be done through ACPO Criminal Records Office.
