I'm the USC and i prepared the DS156 form for my fiancee from the Philippines.

She noticed an error in box 40, i had dated it MM/DD/YYYY instead of DD/MM/YYYY. Box 40 is not included in the barcode information, it's handwritten after printing out, and the date was 4/30/2013, which is clearly an April date so there's no confusion as there would be if it was 4/11/2013

Should we redo the DS156? It seems like such a small error, it's obvious what was meant and it's not part of the barcode.

Thanks

Be safe and correct it. It won't hurt you.

Yeah - i'll do that tonight i guess then Fedex it - i just feel so stupid for that one small mistake after everything else is correct. Well, i'm thankful she's paying attention and double checking to catch it in time :)

Thanks for the advice

Can't the fiance print the documents and fill them out? I'm wondering because I'm planning to fill out all the DS forms then print them out so my fiance doesn't have to send me anything. I'm the beneficiary btw. smile.png

Of course the beneficiary can fill out the forms, that is what I did. However, there are sometimes cases where the petitioner prepares the paperwork, especially when the beneficiary's English is not sufficient.

Your fiancé will still have to send you the Affidavit of Support docs though.

I just printed and prepared most of the forms 'cos it gives us 2 sets of eyes to avoid mistakes because i'll see the forms then send them and she can check them, and also i have a working printer, she needs to go to the internet cafe which is a pain. Her English is great though. She also has other things on her plate such as getting the wedding dress, medical interview, etc, so anything like paperwork that i can help with i'm happy to do.

She did end up reprinting the DS156 anyhow mainly 'cos there's not really sufficient time to send it even via fedex and be 100% confident it arrives in time. What a pain that form is though, one small error and you have to fill it all in again.
