Adjustment of Status

Hey Everyone,

Just sitting down to do my AOS pack and I have a couple of questions (again? I know)...I'm currently in the US, married etc, but would like to go back to the UK asap to have a wedding party there...now I understand I have to adjust my status, and was under the impression this would take aprx 4 months...but lookig again and talking to people who have been through the same thing, they suggested a year!!! How long usually is it until I get the all clear to go back?

So going through my pack, I have copy of passport, K1, birth cert, marriage cert, I-129f:. have completed: G-1145, I-485, G-325a, I-864, I-765...now do I complete I-131, or is this just for business and emergencies...I dont think Homeland would consider a party as an emergency LOL!!!

Any advice would be fantastic :) thanks in advance :)

Yes, the I-131(Advance Parole-AP) is for re-entry to the US when traveling. File the I-765 and I-131 at the same time as the I-485 and the fees for those 2 forms are waived so you just pay the total of $1070 for the i-485. It takes about 2-3 months to receive the EAD/AP after filing for AOS. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Smashing - that's great thanks...I was questioning the 'optional' part of the checklist, and when I was reading the instructions it didn't sound right, but after reading again it makes sense, form filled and put in pack...phew, glad that's done, thanks for your help :) enjoy the weekend!!!
