Accounting and Finance Jobs

hello everyone,

A question ... My husband is in Finance. He has degrees in Accounting and Finance. He's currently in a Finance Manager in his country 10yrs experience. Upong arriving in the US ... would his degree be acceptable there? I"ve heard it's worthless. What type of jobs could he find in the beginning? (that pay decently?) Would he has to start from beginning entry level? Or have to go back to school?... Any advice or links to where I'd find information on how get into his field in the US ... .Thanks

Big 4 audit companies - Deloitte & Touche, KPMG, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers always have vacancies. They also have offices all over the US and in other countries. Even the entry level associate will be making good bucks and if there are credentialing requirements as part of the position (CPA) the firm pays for continuing education. I'd think US GAAP would be something he needs to learn if he doesn't know it already. If you have these firms in your country, make an appointment and go talk to a senior partner, director or manager - they probably have contacts in the US and could put in a good word for you.

All these firms organize and/or participate in recruitment fairs for entry level positions. You may want to check out their hiring pages based on the level you're interested in - student, career candidates. I'd even look up their recruiters on linked in and got in touch with one of them - could be a good starting point.

My husband works for a major marketing company now here in this country... you think that would help? You mentioned career fairs, are there any agencies that offer career counseling?

Also ... he has a CPA here but obviously he'd need to get a license there .. can he just take the test there? Or as you mentioned take classes?
