Hi guys~ :energetic:

I was looking for info about this Q and could not find the answer in the guides. Sorry if it's a dup....

After your SO has received packet 3 from the Embassy, how much time he has to gather the requested evidence? He's waiting on some police reports from Germany (he lived there for a few years) and we don't know if that petition could expire because it could take like a month to get them...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!! :star:

The petition is good for four months and easily be extended by asking the consulate to do so - some do it automatically if the wait for an interview is long.

Yes, look at your NOA2 letter, it will have an expiration date 4 months from approval, it it is getting close, contact the consulate or embassy, and request that they extend the approval for another 4 months, the consular officer can do that.

There is a letter under K-1 in the example forms that you can also use to request extension..
