Huh? What does this mean?

I got the email notice yesterday that they had approved my AOS, and had ordered me a new card. Today I got this email...I haven't seen anybody else post this email before. What does it mean? What is ADIT processing? Anyone?

I know that from yesterday, they sent me the "we've approved your application and have ordered you a new card" email yesterday. But today they sent me this weird "we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice." email, mentioning ADIT, whatever that is. I haven't seen anyone else here mention this ADIT email before.

This is my guess/translation:

Email #1 - we approved your application and ordered your card

Email #2 - we know we kinda already told you this in an email, but we also sent a letter in the mail to you. The letter indicates that not only have we approved your application, but we also registered you as a LPR. Now that you are registered, the card that we ordered can be sent. But just to be safe, read the letter that we sent to you because sometimes we end up needing more information from you before we can really send out your card. We call that information ADIT processing and we don't know if that will happen in your case or not because there is no rhyme or reason to the process.

ADIT:

Alien Documentation, Identification and Telecommunications card, Form I–89. Used to collect key data concerning an alien. When processed together with an alien's photographs, fingerprints and signature, this form becomes the source document for generation of Form I–551, Permanent Resident Card

I've copied and pasted the verbage from two different letters received by members of the namecheck thread -

"However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Wouldn't the letter normally say something more like the other letters i.e.

"We have to perform additional review on this case" or "We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete"?

Seems like they would be a little less cryptic but you never know!

I'm not sure. I'm just saying it's a possibility. That's why I added in my next post the wording of two letters of namecheck members.

I've skimmed this forum and notice that today, California seems to be issuing a batch of 'new' letters not seen before. As such, nobody knows exactly what they mean.

I idly note that with his IT background, gsmaclean is the perfect candidate for a Visa Mantis check. I would not be surprised if he is subjected to further security clearance before his card is issued.

11-16 approved.

On 11-17 I got the email stating we were being sent the the welcome letter etc.

Today I got the EXACT same email above with the ADIT line etc... perhaps, hopefully, it is just a new standard form letter.

I went looking for what ADIT means: Alien Documentation, Identification and Telecommunication System (ADIT)

I got the same email today... soooo... not sure yet!

I think it's hard to say what the new notices mean until we see a pattern.

I don't see how all these cases could be getting transferred without at least some going into namecheck.....
