Hi, Check out my post on tracking through DHL and see if you can locate a package leaving on the date NVC gave you. If you have trouble tracking let me know and I will check for you. you would search dates starting with April 5.

I found 2 leaving the NVC for India, if this is your consulate and if the 8th was the date NVC said they sent your case to the embassy one of these could be yours.

Yes, NVC told me they sent out on April 08. I called DOS they said same thing NVC Sent out on 08 April 2013.
