99% you will go through nbc, then get routed to the local office near you

good chance you will never be able to see your case online

after 45-60 days call uscis to inquire as to where your file is located

if it is at a local office near you, make an infopass

it is highly unlikely you will find ANY information that will help you understand your processing time on the uscis site these days

currently - I-130s for spouse route like this:

lockbox->MSC->local office(optional)

Study the I-797C formletter you get (or will get) - the receipt # will be printed there.

The first 3 letters determine where the casefile has gone, but if it's MSC, is great chance it's gonna get to a local office for adjudication.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

My receipt number starts with "MSC"

Yup, that is the National Benefits Center, that used to be called the "Missouri Service Center". Your file will be routed to the local office nearest where you live. Then it will be processed there. Then it may go back to the NBC for a cross-check (like mine did) before being sent to the National Visa Center. That is normal processing these days.

I'm a dual US/Hungarian citizen (both by birth; Hungarian citizenship verification TBA), and my husband is a dual British/Irish citizen (by treaty) from Northern Ireland. We are atheists.

08 Jul 2013: SSN received (at SSA office)

07 Aug 2013: Green Card received

27 Feb 2014: Whoa, life happened. Planning move "back home" together to Republic of Ireland by end of April.

29 Apr 2014: POE Dublin through Heathrow

15 May 2014: Received formal residency/work permission (GNIB card with Stamp 4, one year renewable) for the ROI

I call the number on NOA1 and asked for Tier 2 support and found out it was transferred to Texas and had my congressman inquire check your congressman's website mine had two forms to fill out one was a legal privacy release and other about my case number etc..

I sent my I-130 to the Chicago lockbox, how do I know what service center (Texas, Vermont, etc) my file went to? I am trying to look up the processing times on the USCIS website

I found it out without going through my Congressman's office. You need to speak to a Tier 2 (ISO) and tell them you know it is something they can see.

Just found out it was in Texas Service Center I got an appointment to go in person Infopass see the web site they told be my case was almost ready to assign to an officer I recievedy NOA1 in Sep 2012 still waiting for NOA2

What happened after that ?
