My wife and I accidently put a wrong birthday on the AOS form and the stupid thing is we didn't notice until few weeks after our NOA1. What can I do now?

A similar thing happened to my husband, except, it was USCIS who mistyped his birth date on the NOA for the I-765. We made an InfoPASS appointment, brought the NOA and his birth certificate (a copy and the original). The USCIS rep we spoke with checked the system to ensure the I-485 and I-131 had the correct information, which they did on the NOAs we received for each. She confirmed the I-765 application was the only place where the incorrect birth date appeared, so it was clearly due to clerical error.

In any event, she told us to mail a copy of the NOA and a copy of his birth certificate to the address listed on the NOA. We also included a cover letter giving an overview of the issue. We also made sure to highlight the birth date! When they received the documentation, his case on USCIS.gov for the I-765 was updated to note they received the update.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just wanted to give everyone update of my situation and hopefully it would be useful for others. I called the 1800 on the NOA1 and they instructed me to send a pesonal letter explaining the typo, NOA1 (copy) and included my wife birth certificate (copy) + the translation version to my Visa Center (in my case it is Lee's Summit). I did that and 2 weeks later they sent me a letter confirmed that they have changed my wife's birthday in the system.

I also asked the biometric officer to update my wife's birthday in their system as well. Apparently it is a 2 systems so if the biometric's birthday is not the same in the central system you might get denial.

So yeah make sure your birthday is also correct in the biometric system.

The USCIS made a mistake with my sons birthday too. I have 3 kids and whoever was typing in all the details of their birth dates made a mistake and put his birthday the same as my daughters birthday. I called the USCIS customer service number on the NOA1 and the guy I spoke to made the correction over the phone. Didn't request that I send in anything and I haven't received anything from them. Had our Biometrics last week and everything was correct in their system.
