Canada - Where we take our Ketchup Seriously

Oh here's another thing I noticed. Who puts ketchup on their grilled cheese sandwiches? I always have a monster blob of ketchup in the middle of my place that I dip my grilled cheese into and everyone that sees me doing that thinks I'm totally bizarre and they won't even believe that it tastes awesome?

Also I've noticed for things like hamburgers or hotdogs, most people I know here will put just ketchup on them and nothing else. I have to cover mine in relish, ketchup, sometimes mustard, jalapenos, mayo and anything else I can find on the table...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t dunk their grilled cheese in ketchup…unless they are dunking it in their Tomato Soup.

Seems to be a one or the other thing. No soup then it goes into ketchup.

for hamburgers I just like a little mayo, ketchup, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. for hot dogs, I usually just do ketchup, unless there is some of my mom's homemade corn relish around. I do sometimes add grilled onions and peppers to my hotdogs though.

I dunk my grilled cheese in ketchup, I got that from my UK friend too. I never did that when I was a kid.

I like it on the side to dunk my grilled cheese in!

I like the same thing for my hamburgers, add mustard, though. On hot dogs I HATE ketchup. I only have mustard and whatever else is available.

I ate a chicago style hotdog when i first moved here, and i asked for the mayo and ketchup and everyone just stared at me. lol my husband said it was blasphemy to do that to a hot dog. :P anyting that involves meat and a bun i put just about anything on it. bread and butter pickle relish, ketchup, mustard, mayo, onions, even saurkraut on my hot dogs. Sometimes i'll even add sliced cheese and tomatoes. i pretty much make burgers and dogs all dressed. i learned that from Harvey's restaurants when i was growing up in Montreal. If the condiments are not dripping down your arms your doing it wrong laughing.gif

grilled cheese and tomato soup is one of my favorite comfort foods especially on rainy days. I cannot put ketchup on my KD, it makes my husband ill to see that lol

You HAVE to have ketchup on your grilled cheese. Not having it is just wrong!

On my hotdogs and hamburgers I put cheese slices, ketchup, relish or pickles, onions, mustard and mayo. Mmm...now I want burgers!

Yup ketchup and grilled cheese, I also will dip my toast in it too. I only like ketchup and cheese on hot dogs and buggers. I don't like anything else what so ever.

Oh one crazy pregnancy craving was tomato sauce but I was out of it. So when I made rice I added my soy sauce as normal then I just had to try it with ketchup it was heaven. I still eat it that way.

I miss ketchup chips!! :( They don't make them here in the US..

There actually are a few brands that do, they are just really hard to find. I've seen them here before actually from two different brands. But they come and go and aren't quite the same.

I remember about 2 years ago at work I made a salami and cheese and ketchup sandwich and my one coworker was just totally in awe that I would put ketchup on sandwich meat. I said hell yeah everyone does. Then we asked a few coworkers and the alien life form I am seemed to have emerged where they all thought I was from a different planet again. I was like damn, my fellow Americans have by far the most boringest taste buds on the planet...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I liked ketchup chips when I was a kid but not anymore. What I miss are all-dressed chips. :(

Same here. I still like ketchup chips but not as much as before but all dressed chips are my new thing. When we visited my family last week I brought 3 bags worth back with us!
