all depends on why you need to file the I-601 and even then you need hardship letters fron the usc to state the hardship caused by you not being granted a visa they dont actually ask for support documents if you could give more facts on your case people here will be better able to answert you

My USC fiance (now wife) wrote the harship letter stating her hardships. The only supporting documents we attached were 2 character reference for me. She didnt submit any evidence for what she stated on the I601. Mine was approved in 5 weeks.

I was denied for 2 assault convictions 6 years ago.

Mexico requires documentation to support each and every claim made in the HSL. For example, if you state extreme hardship due to a medical condition, you need doctor's letters proving this information. If you state extreme hardship due to the potential inability to find a job in Mexico, you need to provide evidence of the the unemployment rate in Mexico. As stated, you need to support each and every hardship claim in the letter. The more valid evidence you provide, the stronger it makes your arguments. I would spend a lot of time gathering evidence and providing documentation. (Character references will not be helpful in your case since you as the USC need to prove extreme hardship to you in the event your fiance's visa is ultimately denied and you need to permanently relocate to Mexico).

check out immigrate2us, they are really very good on the 601 waiver side and you should find some help and examples of what needs to be done. If you are filing a waiver then you will need a hardship letter from yourself, a letter from your fiancee and any supporting letters you can get
