Hi,

I need to apply for the conditions to be removed on 6/28/13, exactly 90 days ahead of my 2-year green card expiration. (I married a US citizen).

My questions:

Can I apply then leave the country for a month?

OR

Do I have to wait for the receipt to carry that with me to travel AND have had my biometrics appointment? Options

Travel with no paperwork as long as I return before my 2-year GC expires and sort it all out later?

Travel with the receipt notice but having NOT had the biometrics test?

Travel with the receipt notice and wait at the USCIS office so I can get the biometrics out the way then travel and come back a few MONTHS later?

Wiill the receipt notice allow me to travel beyond my GC expiration date or do I need to get my passport stamped (How?)

How long does the receipt notice take to get?

Have folk had success as biometric walk-ins?

Many thanks for all or any help!

Travel with no paperwork as long as I return before my 2-year GC expires and sort it all out later? YES

Travel with the receipt notice but having NOT had the biometrics test? YES, but missing your appointment wouldn't a good thing.

Travel with the receipt notice and wait at the USCIS office so I can get the biometrics out the way then travel and come back a few MONTHS later? You mean show up without an appointment letter? It could work. Maybe.

Wiill the receipt notice allow me to travel beyond my GC expiration date or do I need to get my passport stamped (How?) Notice extends greencard 1 year. Use it with the expired card.

How long does the receipt notice take to get? A week or two

Have folk had success as biometric walk-ins? Yes, many have when they have an appointment notice.

Nich-Nick: many thanks for this. Any other folks in New York (Manhattan) with experience of that office? Thanks!

There is a thread in the AOS forum with walk -in experiences by office. The last post is the one to look at because people add to it. Biometrics is the same no matter which application you have going. I just updated it with Duluth because that person didn't add to the list, so it's back to the front page currently. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/367977-thinking-of-early-walk-in-for-biometrics/page__view__findpost__p__6122415

Manhattan is on the list. I do know the center can generate an appointment for you if they are real nice. Several people have reported they didn't have a letter or had some other crisis and walked in to see what they could do.
