i864 required but not needed?

my fiancee is about to have her k1 visa interview after a long journey through the i129f process. i am really confused as to if i actually need to send the i864 with her to the interview. everywhere i read says it is not needed until we are married in the united states. but a few people say if its on the required list of whats needed take it or you will be denied.

my big problem is, to send it, id have to fill it out. and part 1 makes no sense. A. should be the answer BUT im not her relative until we are actually married. so they require it but its impossible to fill out correctly. has anyone experianced this themselves? thanks for any help.

she is going to the montreal consulate in canada, and i am in america.

You need the I-134 form for the visa interview.

I-134 is for the interview and I-864 is for AOS.
