Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and figured I'd start looking into what I needed to file for the IR-1/CR-1 spouse visa. I am not yet married but I will be getting married to my fiancé in June. I will be in April and get to spend 3 months with him. I'm so excited. Anyways I have known my fiancé for almost two years ( we met when he was living in UK) and I'm so excited to be able to spend my life with him. After we get married, we plan on submitting the I-130 petition probably around August or September. We know it's a long wait but we know that eventually we will get to be together. My question is: is there anything we can do now go get ready for the I-130. Obviously we will have to be married and show lots of pictures of engagement and the traditional wedding but what about other evidence? We have pictures from the previous visits, passport stamps, itinerary, lots of Skype calls, whatsapp texts and much more. We will have many pictures of the wedding and plan to take a little honeymoon trip after the wedding. Also he will add me to his bank account and I plan on adding him to my credit card account. Is there anything else we can do once we marry? I understand most banks in the USA want the person to be present when adding them to the account so I can't add him to my account.

Also I have seen that the us embassy in Islamabad is difficult so should we submit a lot of evidence and proof when we submit the petition? Thanks so much for reading! :)

Well, first of all, you can start by going to this link and reading up on the process:

Besides that, the evidence you listed sounds pretty thorough! Obviously you'll want to include a photocopy of your marriage certificate, but if you haven't lived together there's not too much other stuff you can stick in there.

Welcome to the site! Lots of luck on your visa journey. good.gifkicking.gif

Thanks so much!! I will have a look at that guide and get an idea of everything to send! And yes you are correct we haven't lived together so it's kind of hard to provide co documentation like leases and things like that since in his culture everyone lives at home in the same house.

Start collecting documents and evidence. For your case evidence is going to play big as most of PAK cases goes to AP. So I suggest you file as soon as you get married.

good luck on a long hard journey...especially for pakistan :-| i suggest he stay in UK if he can ...if not good luck...this is torture.

anyways pics and cover to cover copies of your passports are what is sufficient. Marriage certificate, proof of you all spending time together so gather all pics of time spent together and pics before and after marriage...and casual pics after marriage as well.

You will need police certificates i think from all countries he has lived in after age 16...I think. well for the k-1 we needed it.

You should also gather affidavit of support info like immigration letters from your bank and ensure you have sufficent income to support him.
