Hi there fellow VJers!

I'm still among the July filers awaiting the elusive NOA2 todate. Funny how the wait can be so excruciating. However, there is a pressing concern while we await this petition to be approved.

My fiancee's daughter (who is turning 19 yrs old this month) decided that she doesn't want to come live in the US anymore. She is included/listed in the K1 petition to accompany my fiancee to the US.

My question is, can we not include her in the application for visa in the US Embassy in Manila(once the petition gets approved) but she will still have the option to follow to join her mom in case she changes her mind later on?

Also, her daughter does have a B2 visa that is still unused (my fiancee got this for her and her brother because they planned to visit the US in 2011 but didnt push thru coz of a relative that got severely ill). Can she visit us using this? Or does it automatically become cancelled once the K1 visa petition is approved?

Thanks in advance to all who can give some thoughts on this.

Hey JB,

I also am in a somewhat similar situation - fiancee's daughter, 19, in college, listed on our K1 app, but she DOES want to come to U.S. My understanding is that she doesn't have to if she changes her mind but if she wait beyond the approval time she'll have to re-apply. I'm not familiar with B2 and if it is cancelled out when K1 is approved, etc.

Good luck!

i say don't worry about it for a bit, as 19 year olds can and will change their minds, rapidly.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

ahhhhmmm....she left home. and we are not sure if she's coming back in time to be at the interview or if she even wants to go. that makes my fiancee want to not apply her for a K2 visa once the petition gets approved. the only uncertainty is, can she apply for this follow to join benefit later once she comes to her senses?
