My Fiance called me hours ago. He told me that he's at his work, early morning (Mar. 8) and he got a call. He also said that he cannot understand much the caller coz when the caller called, his boss radio him (ugh! nice timing).

He said he just remember what caller asked him was if he's legal in the US, and he said yes. Then caller said "It's from Immigration, we will call you in the future".

Now he keeps on wondering why does immigration called him and asked him if he's legal in USA. He filed I-129f last Dec2012

and included a copy of his Naturalization of USC (he's Filipino too anyway and got naturalized) in I-129f packet.

Does this has to do with our I-129F? or nothing?

Does anyone here encountered same as ours?

Is it part of Background check? (coz I told him this hehe, so he stops wondering bout' the call)

I hope someone here can clear up my mind so I can tell my fiance what's the call might be for.

TIA.. :)

I would think maybe it is because of the I-129F application but I cannot believe they would call anyone to ask them are they "legally in the USA." They would send a letter to request some evidence (using an RFE) or in a more serious matter they would send officers to his home address (I know of these situations occurring unrelated to the I-129F).

I find it hard to believe it was a genuine call. Has he told some of his friends about his filing and some of the details?

Good luck

I am wondering about the number of the caller. I will talk to him clearly once he gets home and will ask him to check the number of this caller.

His family only and some co-workers know about his application.. why, what about that?

Yes, that is a good idea, to track the number of the caller if it was Identified.

I asked if someone else knew about the filing and some details because I think that someone is playing a joke on him. Maybe not so funny a joke. USCIS leaves a trail of everything (usually) and would send a letter. They would not call. It does not seem reasonable.

Maybe he was trying to make a joke with you. Do not worry.

Good luck.
