Visa Journey family, After K1 fiancée visa NOA 2 approval, does anyone know how to track the dates and progress at the National Visa Center (NVC) and Consulate? For example, after NOA2, how can we find out when the NVC received our package and sent the package to the consulate? Also, at the consulate, how can we find out when the consulate received the package, mailed out instructions to my fiancée, etc? Also, how much time does it take at each step? This is good information for everyone to know. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

To find out when NVC received your package, you will need to contact them and provide your USCIS receipt number. The number is 1-603-334-0700. The processing time varies and NVC will tell you it takes between 15-20 business days to process mail after it is received but I still call at least 3 times per week for case updates. There are forums with more specific information to help you figure out what to do next. Please start here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/83-national-visa-center-dept-of-state/

Welcome to the forum.

After the USCIS sends your approved petition to the NVC, you can contact them at 603 334-0700, and check on the progress and get your case file number. They can also tell you when the file is sent to the interviewing consulate. After it is sent to the consulate, contact the visa specialist at the DoS, 202-663-1225, press 1, then 0, for a live person, for information. Become acquainted with the Guangzhou US consulate website and how to contact them.

The K-1 flowchart in the Guides, gives some approximate timeframes:

There is a lot of this good information available by checking out postings at the China regional forum, there are several folks there that have recently gone through the Guangzhou consulate:

Finally, much of this information is readily available by using the forum's Google search function, Google can also be your friend.

Happy trails!

Darnell is spot-on in recommending the GUZ P3 shortcut. We followed his advice and executed the shortcut. It shaved a couple of weeks off of our time at the GUZ consulate.
