It says petitioners bc and marriage cert isnt original or not certified copy but I did send a certfied true copy. Im hoping not to send the original because I dont really have the original but the copy I sent was a certified copy of the original. Do we have to send original? I thought originals are just for beneficiary. Is there any option for me? Btw, this is for the ds-230 docs.

NVC will accept either the original on a civil Document or a certified copy from the originating source. So, a Certified copy is not a copy you made of an "original" document and get it notarized. No, it is a copy issued by the same goverment agency that issued the original.

DS-230 packets is all about the Beneficiary and all the documents (Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Marraige Certificate, etc.) the Benificiary submits need to be original to avoid all kind of trouble

Yes, it wasnt certified copy, it was a copy of the certified docs. I have read it somewhere that petitioners need to submit bc and marriage cert so I did and thought that a copy would do. I know beneficiarys would be original but didnt thought petitioners would be original as well.

The OP is petitioning her/his parent (IR-5 Category). The petitioner for such category is required to submit original/certified copies of civil documents like birth certificates & marriage certificates.

See link: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

Petitioner Documents

Who needs to submit petitioner documents?

If you are applying for an IR5 (Parent of a U.S. Citizen) visa, you are required to provide:

  • Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s birth certificate
  • Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.
