Well, yes but still buy the ticket in the passport name. You must ALWAYS do this for international travel. Even for travel inside the USA you must do the same at least until you have ID in another name. For international travel, if you commonly use, and your driver license shows your name as B. Todd JONES, you better buy an international ticket as Brian T. JONES, because B. Todd Jones is NOT getting on the plane using Brian Todd Jones' passport.

Mary Jane JONES is not getting on a plane with Mary Jane COLOMBO's passport either, no matter whether she has a marriage certificate saying she married Mr. Jones or has a driver license in the name of Mary Jane Jones.

Although I totally agree that the ticket should match the passport, our experience has been that there has never been a problem with a ticket in the new married name and a passport in the maiden name along with a marriage certificate.

My travel agent told me she saw honeymooners not being allowed to board the plane because the flight was booked in the married name for the bride.

I know Passport Canada has a disclaimer on their FAQ that tells you if your name doesn’t match your passport then some countries may not let you in and/or your carrier may not let you board.

I would rather not take that chance myself.

I traveled to St. Kitts in my married name with maiden on my passport. I was given a hard time even with my marriage certificate. Once I pulled out my green card, all was fine.
