Hello,

I filed two I-130 petitions for my wife and stepson, I recieved email acceptance for both but only the one hard copy I-797 for my wife and its been over a week since I recieved I-797, I guess the question is will I need that I-797 reciept or just the reciept number that also comes with the email for my stepson? I called USCIS and the lady I talked to put me on hold twice and then seemed like she was reading from a script telling me the case is in intitial review which I know, but told her I was looking for the I-797 then she started reading the same thing off her script again?

Thanks for any advice given.

No you don't need the hard copy. As long as you have the receipt number you are okay.
