Hello, and thanks in advance for reading my post.

I petitioned for I129F on Oct. 20. I moved to my new residence on Nov. 1. I called USCIS to request a change of address. I was informed that I could not change any information until I received NOA1. Catch 22, USCIS mail (NOA1) does not forward to new address. Luckily, the new homeowner of my previous residence received the NOA1 and held it for me. Because of this delay, today was the first day I could call USCIS to change my address. Pretty simple, it seemed. But, at the end of our conversation the USCIS rep. added "ok, your change of address is complete and now it will find its way to your service center (California) and if you haven't heard anything in 45 days call us back". I'm a little concerned about how much time it will take for my COA to "find" its way to California  Anybody had a similar situation?? What if something is mailed in the meantime??

Also, can my fiancee proceed with obtaining Packet 3 requirements (health check, police record) and paperwork even though we haven't heard anything yet? I've noticed on some members timelines a very short turn around with regard to Packet 3, and I assume they have completed Packet 3 before their interview. All of the requirements for Packet 3 are listed on the US Embassy Thailand's website.

Thanks again...I love this website!!!!

i know how you feel, the same as my situation before i keep on asking my fiance if he ever receive a mail after we sent the I-129f, but then based on my observation each USCIS differ with their approval timelines its because they also differ with the number of applicants. in our case it took 122 days for our I-129F to be approved, regarding your preparation for the packet 3 requirments its too early to prepare just wait for your I-129F to be approved then take each action step by step... remember most of the requirements for packet 3 needs to be recent. best of luck for both of us so as all other applicants

pulteseller,

I would suggest you call USCIS back in about a week to verify the address on file. This may give you some assurance that they actually updated it.

With respect to advance packet 3 work, absolutely. With the average processing times lately, it would be low risk to get some if it done now.

In our case, we held off on the police report and medical until the last minute, primarily because we were unsure how long the process would take (150 days just for NOA-2). Since the IMBRA thing is about caught up, you will not wait nearly as long for an uncomplicated case.

Thanks for replying William and Our Love. One hundred days, one hundred fifty days....It seems like an eternity.

One more thing I was wondering about....

A friend of mine that owns a small immigration biz suggested I include the I864ez as proof of support with my initial I129f petition. She said this would speed things up. I did, but I notice on this site the I134 is used as proof of support. Does anyone have any comments on this??

Thanks!

pulteseller,

Is this friend of yours an immigration attorney?

In any event, ask her this question along with the question how including I-864EZ will speed things up. Inquiring minds want to know.

She is not an attorney, but she employs an attorney. She's been doing this for many years and mainly handles cases from Mexico, South and Central America. She said it would speed things up because they are going to ask for it anyway (as the next step) so if you provide it initially you save a step....follow?? Sounds logical, right?

I would say, be VERY CAREFUL.

For the next few months, MAKE VERY SURE THAT THE HOME OWNER IS GOING TO FORWARD YOU ANY EMAIL.

What happened to us is they mailed the RFE to my hubby's old address and he miss the appear time and our first application was denied. So, I suggest you keep your eyes open for that until you get your approval.

wow that sucks, kinda proves that the USPS Change of Address form is a useless piece of #######. Even if you fill it out, they will still not forward your mail.
