Hi, we just did our taxes and we filled married but separated, because in this way we were getting more money. Are we going to have any problems because we didn't do it married and together? ( my name shows on his return, and the other way)

Thank you! We didn't realize that we suppose to do it married and together. But we will next year :)

You are not supposed to do it any one way. You are supposed to file taxes whichever way your prefer/is more beneficial to you.

Whether you file "married filing separately" or "married filing jointly" - doesn't matter. As long as you file "married" - it's all good.

I will file mine married / separately since my wife's mom is claiming her as a dependent for 2012 but for 2013 it will be joint. I think I should be fine for the reason being.

Day 0 (Mon, 1/23/12) Package mailed

Day 12 (2/4/12) Hardcopy received in mail for Biometrics Appointment due on 2/27/12

Day 14 (2/6/12) Walk-in biometrics done

Day 47 (3/9/12) Hardcopy received in mail interview letter date April, 10 2012 @ 3:15PM

Day 73 (4/4/12) Received EAD
