Marriage Certificate Error

Hi,

Just recieved my marriage contract. There seems to be a slight error in the form. My wifes name ( the beneficiary ), has an extra letter an the end of her first name

Example:

Janee, where it should be Jane.

The problem is, to correct this, it will take another month or too to get it fixed.

I was wondering if an affidavit of discrepancy would suffice in this situation?

No, you should have it corrected at the Local Civil Registry where your marriage was recorded.

No, you should have it corrected at the Local Civil Registry where your marriage was recorded.

Yes, but the problem is the Local Civil Registry cannot correct it anymore till the National Statistics Offices certifies it. And after that we must have the local civil registry fix it as well. I was made aware that we can file a affidavit by the local civil registry since it is common practice, then show the original certificate once it has been completed and corrected by NSO, maybe during the interview, or maybe as an RFE(hopefully not). Can some one confirm this?

Any update on this? I was thinking about attaching a post it to the Marriage certificate indicating that there was an attached, Affidavit of discrepancy and explaining the typographical error? Also in the later stages we will provide the correct copy.
