Dear Good VJ People,

On Feb 5, 2013 - I received the following email from NVC:

QUESTION: Best guess(es) on interview date or important dates to follow please???

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The National Visa Center has received all documentation necessary to complete pre-processing

of your case. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner

and attorney (if applicable) will be notified.

The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment

until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa.

The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of

the interview. Additional documentation requirements if applicable can be referenced at

the following URL: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3742.html

Sincerely,

Director

National Visa Center

Case Number: GUZ$$$$$$$$$$$

The interview dates vary greatly depending on the country and respective embassy/consulate where you'll have your interview. In Ecuador, for example, people are having to wait upwards of two months from the completion of their NVC case to their interview, but in some other places you could get it in less than a month. Have you checked recent timelines to see what other people from your consulate are getting?

ouch.

you have GUZ #? Not a GZO #?

Alas, the casefile is sent over to Guangzhou IV, and Guangzhou IV sets the appointment date. Expect 1 to 3 months for shipping time, another month to get on the calendar with a P4 sent out electronically, with an appointment another 3 to 5 weeks out.

IF YOU HAD a GZO #, NVC sets the appointment date, about 5 days out from the case complete email that you've received.

Sorry.

Why you not utilize NVC Electronic Processing for Guangzhou?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I really thought we did opt-in with the NVC and that is why I am receiving emails in lieu of paper mail postal letters?

I even pushed my att'y to opt-in and at that time all seemed good.

I hired an att'y mostly bec I am self employed and my Net (after Gross) is close to the bad number.

We did hit a jam with this and I had to send additional proof that I had hard savings and IRA accounts etc.

The numbers involved in my savings saved us but the NVC stated that the interview in GZ would make the "final decision" regarding me being close to the poverty line.

if the casefile is GUZ#, there was no electronic processing done by your attorney.

everyone receives stuff via email, when they use a telephone- that jump starts the process. Everyone.

For those in EP - they be SENDING stuff via email (for Guangzhou, that is).

Receiving email doesn't count, for EP.

a successful OPT IN ? a GZO # is issued.

-----

in the end, I have to say - Bobby Sherman bit you in the @ss. If yer wife finds out you not utilize EP, she's gonna wallop you and wallop you and wallop you.

You could always contact yer attorney, inquire if the OPT IN for NVC Electronic Processing was successful or no, and ask for the GZO #.

Then let us know the results.

Hey Darnell - I can not believe this.

My att'y is responding as if she does not know the difference between EP (GZO#) and paper processing (GUZ#)!

She basically said - "I don't know what you mean".

I sent her the links regarding the actual EP "opt-in" options for GuangZhou and she basically replied, "I don't remember Opting in.... anyway we're already on our way since NVC sent the package to GZ".

Holy Moly.

Suggest you ask for a 15 percent rebate for her error.

Send her an invoice, mark it 'OPT IN ERROR - No NVC Electronic Processing'

After 30 days when she doesn't pay it, take her to small claims court,

as

her ignorance just bought you 2 to 5 more months of wait time till the interview.
