IR-2 visa approved but must wait for decision?

We had our interview for our son and daughter today, interview was in Manila. The petition was for an IR-2 Visa immigrant to USA. Now the interview was successful and was approved, but we were not given the visa and was told:

"wait until you hear from us: ur case requires further administrative process/review. wait for a letter telling you when to return to the embassy with the documents marked above"

My kids went through a tough time at the St. Lukes medical exam! And now after their visa was approved we have wait again?

Can anyone please tell us how long we have to wait for this process and also tell us what this process is all about.

Me and wife are very desperate for some answers so please help us. Thank you in advance for all your input.

unfortunately some people are placed under further review even after visa approval. it is called AP as stated in your letter. some last few weeks to several months depending on what is being reviewed. You quote from the embassy mentioned bringing some documents? have you submitted those?

09/15/2012: Got Married
09/26/2012: Mailed I-130 from Nigeria( delayed by customs)
USCIS stage ( 66 days)
10/12/2012: NOA 1
12/17/2012: NOA 2 (case was transferred to NYC office 11/27/12)
NVC stage ( 20 days)
01/08/2013: Case # and IIN assigned ( file arrived NVC mail room 12/20/12)
01/09/2013: AOS invoiced and paid, DS-3032 emailed and mailed.
01/16/2013: IV invoiced &paid. AOS & IV mailed in one package(arrived 01/18).
01/28/2013: Case complete!!!
04/19/2013: Interview; APPROVED!!!!!
05/13/2013: POE; JFK

N-400: (3 months and 12 days)
Filed N-400 : 2011-06-17
Interview: 2011-09-27
Oath Ceremony: 2011-09-30

IR-5 for Mom Entire process took 5 months exactly
USCIS (22days)
mailed I-130 : 2011-09-30
NOA 1: 2011-10-03 (text & email)
NOA 2: 2011-10-25 (text and email)
NVC: (19 days)
Case entered and # assigned: 2011-11-18
NVC Case COMPLETED: 2011-12-07 ( 43 days from NOA 2 and 65 days from NOA 1)
Interview Date(Lagos): 2012-01- 23 Mom was late for interview
New Interview date: 2012-02-29 : VISA APPROVED

ndu26, do you think we are under review because of medical reasons? My daughter and son's medical at St. Lukes was a bit of a hassle and took 5 months for their medical to be cleared. If the review is for medical reasons, how long would the review be? Thanks again ndu26!

oh, what was wrong with the medical that it took that long to finish i u dont mind me asking.. how old are your kids..

May 28, 2013 - AOS invoiced and paid

June 5, 2013 - Ds3032 accepted

June 6, 2013 - IV FEE invoiced, Paid

June 8, 2013 - IV packet sent

June 14, 2013 - Case sent the the Embassy

Hey loveydovey,

My kids had a false positive on their TB test and had to go through the procedure of a 6 months treatment which turned out to be negative results in all the periodical test. They were cleared by the clinic and now under Administrative Process with the US embassy.

My kids are 6 and 10 years old.
