i filed for my i90 a month ago and received the receipt (i-797c)on January 11 but i have not yet received my biometrics appointment and i have to leave to the Philippines by the end of the month for emergency...is it possible to just walk to the uscis office in my town and ask if i can take my biometrics even without an appointment letter and just bring the receipt letter(i-797c) with me? because i know that ones i do my bioemtrics,i can get an extension on my expired greencard and be able to leave the country ones they put a new sticker on the back of my card.

U can try to go to the office and have your biometrics taken but do not leave USA without proper documents to get back in.

the thing is that my father had his greencard also renewed and had his biometrics a couple of weeks ago, they gave him an extension for this greencard..the put some sort of sticker on the back of the card saying that the greencard which was expired will still be valid until september, so that he can still go out of the country and come back with no problem and since by september, his renewed greencard will already be sent to him..so i did the same thing as i filed for my i-90 online and i just received my receipt on january 11 but have not yet received my bioemtrics. and i need to go back to the philippines as soon as possible..so maybe they will let me take my biometrics even without my bioemtrics schedule yet and see if i can get an extension too so i can leave.

You can try, some offices may let you in, some won't without even a letter.
