So you are saying that anyone that believes trauma and stress could affect conception is an idiot.

I bet every almost every OBGYN in the world would disagree with you.

I do agree the Repubs should stay out of peoples reproductive health issues, but also the dems should not demand we fund them.

Where did I say that? I didn't say that at all. But since you brought it up, let's see some valid statistics. And I mean valid. Not some stats from some doctor working for Operation Rescue.

What I said is, for them to think that rape victims cant get pregnant makes them morons. And it does.

All the guy was saying is that if a woman is raped, the stress " could potentially" keep her from conceiving as opposed to normal sex. I think where they keep messing up is say legitimate. They should have just said rape and left it alone.

The point was that there have been cases, when someone came up pregnant, and claimed rape to cover the truth. They should not have touched that subject.

He went on to say that although it can happen, a woman can very likely get pregnant from rape and t hat he does not support the position of Akin.

My how words get twisted.

I am pro choice BTW... I just think the guy is not being fairly quoted.

This doc botched his explanation.

With a 'typical rape' whether ovulating or not, the female doesn't orgasm and her cervix won't dip and 'scoop up' the seminal fluid into her body and help out the little critters with an easy ride to her egg(s). Hence her chances of becoming pregnant decreases but it still happens. Fright/pain is the 'stress' you're talking about that prevents the cervix from dipping and not help accommodate one of the results of rape.

It seems that it's not just Republican politicians who have a problem with what they meant to say.

That's how you fire up the base if you're a Republican.

That's the problem with politics in this country. We'll never have a middle of the road candidate for president. The extremists on both sides control who gets the nomination. So you have to pander to the extremists to get the nomination. John McCain of 2000 vs. John McCain of 2008 is a perfect example. But that's a whole other argument that I'm sure we'll be having right after inauguaration day. The craziness will start super early this time, since Obama isn't up for re-election in 2016.

I just want to be clear on this logic. As I stated before, I'm no doctor. You're telling me that a woman has a much better chance of getting pregnant if she has an orgasm?

When you see couples at a fertility clinic it's because the husband isn't doing it right!

there are a multitude of factors that must align perfectly for conception to occur. akin and now this guy, question the "legitimacy" ~32,000 rape victims who conceive via rape. within the context of these gop assertions, if they got pregnant - how come their body didn't respond properly to the stress of the rape? maybe they weren't actually too stressed about it? maybe they wanted it? maybe they didn't - but god did and so he trumped the shut down!

not being fairly quoted? interesting take.

Are you dense? It wasn't really a rape. They got pregnant, so they asked for it! Jeez. Women these days.

we should start a petition to add "did you orgasm?" to the intake form with all hospital rape kits!

Yes esp so if all other things are right. So if you see you wife eating healthy, exercising, being happy, and giving you the eyes you may want to lock her up somewhere if you're not ready for an '18 yr obligation'.

Maybe just ask them if they had fun.
