Bingo. Leadership requires politics. Doesn't matter whether you're in private enterprise, the military or civil public service. If you suck at politics, you won't be a leader. Simple as that.

why should that tiny bullet be of more concern than the much larger which is commonly used in even the most basic dear rifle?

He might very well be a centrist at heart, the only thing I speak with certainty on his is statement on ammo.

It's highly misleading.

And by his reasoning nearly all medium to large caliber Ammo should not be in the hands of civilians.

Maybe it was not well stated, but, yes, a high velocity round combined with a large capacity magazine could be devastating. The idea is how many rounds a soldier can easily carry, with a light weapon that is easy to handle. I don't know if you heard about the .17 caliber "caseless" ammunition the military was considering for a while. I wonder what was the result of that testing. I believe the HK had a working version, but I haven't heard anything since. And then there is this:
