#3. I thought the census bureau took names as well as the number of people, no? Anyway, start a new list if one doesn't exist. It will be up to the gun owner to provide an accurate list.

#5. If we're serious about getting the guns off the street, then yes, we can fund it somehow. Like I said earlier, it could be done as a tax deduction.

Census information is only statistical not personal.

Ammo tax. Make it very expensive to shoot a firearm, say $10 a round. That would put a box of large caliber rifle ammo around $250. A case of surplus ammo for your assault weapon, $50,500.

Supreme court has already stated that such barriers would be unconstitutional...that being said British 303 crossed the dollar a round mark awhile back and is getting very expensive.

I haven't bought ammo for my .338 Win Mag in a while, but it worked out to over $2 a round with sales tax.

You're correct, thanks. I was thinking about the US Census Community Survey, much more in depth. Here's a link to it if you want to check it out.

Works for me. (Less the assault weapon ammo)

Ammo don't care. The same ammo fired in an assault rifle can be fired in a bolt-action rifle, and many "assault weapons" fire common pistol ammunition.

True, my emphasis on the assault weapon ammo was just to make a point.

I think it was the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, my favorite liberal of all time, that said, "Guns don't kill people, bullets do, so tax bullets." Then the only way to avoid the tax would be to cast your own bullets, even if you reload your own ammunition.

The point being that there is no such thing as assault ammo

Which isn't hard to do. I do round balls for BP.

You having any problem getting lead? There is a lead shortage, and things like dead care batteries are worth ten to twenty bucks each. I think one of the auto part chains is actually giving gift cards for turning in a lead battery.

There is a company in the East Bay that sells lead ingots. I'll find it for you and send the link.

Found it:

Rotometals Inc:

865 Estabrook St.

San Leandro, CA 94577
