Documentation for DS-260

My wife, a USC, has submitted everything necessary for both of her parents to move over to the usa. We submitted a ds-260 & sent copies/translations to the NVC as requested. We received an e-mail back that the copies needed to be certified or that we'd have to send originals. We could send originals, but there are certain things we have only one original of, like their marriage certificate and ours as well. By "certified" does it request the copies to be notarized? Or would they have to request a few more originals in Mexico, mail them to us so we can send them to the NVC?

Certified does not mean notarised, it means that they are documents certified by the custodian of the record to be exact duplicates of the original they have on-file.
