Hey all!!!

My fiance and I are about to begin the ever-so-long (and strenuous) process of the K-1 visa. We are definitely nervous, but have been reading personal testimonies and doing MUCH research to gather as much as we can about how to do this successfully, and correctly. I am the petitioner (I live in South Carolina, USA), and he is in Ontario, Canada.

We have been through A LOT with immigration already. As he was going to enter the states on November 25, 2012, he was denied entry (due to them figuring out his intent to marry and not return). We realize our mistakes in doing that, but sincerely just did not know. We really are just dying to be together, and officially end this long distance relationship that has been going on for 2 1/2 years now (as I'm sure most of you can empathize with!). I love him with my whole heart, so we are now just doing everything in our power to follow the "system", that I SO believe is very skewed, and flawed. That being said, however, it is the system we have to use to get him here, so we are trying to follow it as HONESTLY and detailed as we can.

I have seen statistics where this visa has been denied to couples, but haven't heard stories about that. I'm sure it would be difficult to talk about, but I'm just curious what we could do to not end up there. Is it difficult to be denied? I just don't even know what we would do at this point if (God forbid) that happened. What exactly ARE they looking for in the interview? I have heard SO many different things, and I know it depends on the officer you get. How can he better prepare for that interview? His interview will be in Montreal...have any of you used the consulate there?

We need some encouraging stories/advice, as this process has not started off very encouraging!

Hey, there!

Atop every VJ page are links for "Embassy Info" and "Reviews: Embassy." Click through them to read all about the Montreal consulate.

There's also an active regional subforum for Canada, filled with knowledgeable members, eh. Scroll down the main Forums list to find it.
