Hello,

My Fiancee arrived in the USA November 24th!! Yea!! Now I have questions about what to do next.

Do I apply for a Social Security Card for her or wait until after we are married?

Can I apply for a travel document so she can go back to visit family next year before i have a plan to travel?

When should we submit employment authorization? before or after married name and social security number?

Thank you,

Curtis

The quick answer is you should file for a social security care as soon as possible, and no later than 14-days prior to expiration date on your I-94. You will need to change the name to match the marriage name, but that isn't a biggy.

You file for permission to travel and work after you marry at the same time as you file for adjustment of status, in which case there is no additional fee. You will need to file your I-864 at the time you file for adjustment of status so you should make sure you have no income issues.

When you say no additional fee what do you mean? If i file separate there are 3 fees but if i do together it is only one fee?

Correct., you pay for I-485 plus the biometrics and the travel and work are processed at no additional charge. Hopefully the combination EaAD and travel document will arrive in less thah three months so we can celebrate our "one year since we met" anniversary back in Thailand.
