Hi all ..

I'm just curious to see if your family members are happy or unhappy that you have found love and that you're moving far away to be with the one that you love.

None of my family members have ever moved further away than a 1/2 hour drive (brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins) (other than my fathers estraged wife .. my mother ... but that's another story) so I am a first and it seems that they are less than happy that I would uproot myself, my son and leave my job for .. LOVE?? ... it's only a 4 1/2 hour drive but it is in another COUNTRY !!!... and omg ... it's the United States .. do you know what Oprah said about their school systems? ... lol.

Just wanted to know if there is anyone in a similar situation

Yes, everyone in my family is ultra supportive now. At first, they were concerned about me living so far away. I've always been their baby, so my parents, my sister (who's younger than me), all my uncles, aunts, cousins grandmas and grandpa were worried about my decision. But since David lived here for 2 years, they had the chance to see we were both ready to be on our own.

Everyone is very supportive now but my grandma. :P She really wants me to be happy and she loves David, but she'd rather have me close to her. She loves having everyone around. It's funny and I totally understand and respect her feelings, as she respects (or tries to respect.. lol) mine.... so we're all good. :star:

My parents couldn't have been more supportive! They got to know Roshon before I made the move and they couldn't have been happier!! They love California so they can totally see why I'd want to live here!! I'm lucky enough that they are retired so they can come over for long stays etc I know they still miss me like crazy because I still lived at home before I moved here and we are super close. They get sad sometimes (especially my mum) but they are 100% behind us!!!

His family thinks its weird I think that he married some white english woman!!! But they got over it!!!

My friends thought I was crazy though!!! Some were super negative!!!! Family is what counts the most though!!

We all do sound a little crazy though don't we - moving (some of us to the otherside of the world and some to a whole different lang/culture), leaving everyone/everything behind for (L) Love! (L) !! I think its awesome though - we have great stories for our kids!!!!

Congrats on your AOS! and the Little one that is on the way!! WOOO HOOOO :dance:

We are a mixed couple also, My wife is from India, I am black carribean, so lot of culture clash, but from working In India, I got to meet her parents and friends, we got along well, but still it was a lot of sacrifice to move out here. So i had a little surprise at my wedding reception in NY, my wife has a french name so on the wedding invite, everybody thought she was from the carribean, only at the wedding my friends and everybody got to meet her and realize she was Indian.
