Hi everyone,

I apologize as I misspoke in the subject line of this forum! It should be titled "What if the beneficiary cannot make the interview?"

My husband and I both live in Morocco and I have no intention of going to the interview with him. The problem is that if I'm having the baby, he won't be going either- I don't intend for him to miss the birth of his first child!

So- has anyone out there had to cancel their interview on the day of/day before? If so, what were the consequences? Does it put the entire application at risk or does the interview just get rescheduled for a much later date?

This thread may be so confused that I'll just start a new one...

If your husband cannot attend the interview because you are giving birth that day, in Morocco, they will reschedule the interview. They will NOT reschedule the interview in advance, simply because this MIGHT happen.

According to the Casa consulate website just write them a letter or send an email with the case number, name, full address and phone number and they will reschedule the interview. I say just call them now and reschedule ahead of time it never hurts to ask.

Good luck,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately the website and practice don't seem to be on the same page! We did email them and they've responded saying they will not reschedule the interview.

Well now that makes a difference! I'm sure people have had to cancel and change interviews for medical reasons or family emergency's . If your husband needs to miss his interview then I'm sure you can get another one! Congratulations again!

Yet, I assure you that if your husband cannot attend because he's attending the birth of his child that day, they WILL reschedule. They just won't reschedule based on the possibility that MIGHT happen.

Thanks. So basically if you didn't skiP off to Ireland on you're 18th birthday you should be good lol

Whoever designed apple's auto correct should be fired

My friend's Mum was born and raised in the US. The day after her 18th birthday she moved to Canada to marry and have kids. Because of when my friend was born (1976) and the statute at the time being 5 years after the age of 14, her Mum could not pass her US citizenship to her children so they are solely Canadian.

Yep.

Yes you are fine, you have way more than the 5 years of physical presence.

This forum is about CR-1 spousal visas though- if you want to discuss CRBA more, we have a specific forum for it here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/154-consular-reports-of-birth-abroad-crba/

Thanks

Finally we all three together. We are happy :)
