Hi,

Sounds like you have things covered, except I wonder about the Western Union receipts? If your fiance is sending you money, is that a good thing in the consular officer's eyes? Somewhere on VJ I read that it is a red flag, because they might see it as you having duped the USC out of money. (I know, sounds ridiculous in the context of a real relationship, but you might want to check--I'm not an expert!)

Also do you have certified copies of the USC's birth cert and divorce papers if applicable?

Good luck!

For your income taxes do you have W2's or just the actual return?

I also included an updated letter of intent. Don't forget a copy of your passport.

I think you have it covered.

One thing I have been telling my guy is to know where everything is so no nervous fumbling. Listen to the questions before blurting out what you think they are asking. And most important have faith.

Good Luck

You won't 150 pictures. 30 or so are more than enough. Gideon interviewed in Nigeria - #1 for fraud - which is probably why the CO asked for so many more photos.

Taye, you see why you should have placed Nigeria as country...now you have Kitkat thinking the interview is in the Lone Star state. No Kitkat, the interview is in Nigeria and i think these cases do differ. As i have stated in the past, and i do not hesitate to reiterate- i am yet to be tested, a combination of documents should suffice. I know you can only provide what you have. In your own case, Taye, the preponderance of evidence seems to lie with phone records. Some other person may have over 300 pictures and few phone records..

In the final analysis, the consular officer should look at all the evidence in toto

Taye, as the days draw nearer you will spot more stuff you may think you should have sent. Personally come November 12th, 2006 i will not be on the web. I tend to believe that at some point "the more you look, the less you see"...

Relax, you are championing the November brigade and it will go well....heck! the interview is around the holidays. That may place the COs in a better spirit...looking forward to some downtime..

I also think a&o got it wrong in trying to define who the USC is. It seems to me that Taye is the USC who has sent receipts of Western Union transactions. I see no red flag in that. It does show some connection between USC and the beneficiary. Even COs understand the direction, in the majority of cases, of funds flow betwen USC and beneficiary.

I think we send whatever we have as evidence of relationship. I have read many comments on how some COs do not regard western Union receipts but again i look at this rather cynically. One CO may disregard it....another may think it buttresses the relationship....again i expect it is the whole picture that counts.

100 western union receipts alone without pictures or other evidence does nothing.

Talking about pictures, i actually know someone who told the CO...thats all folks!!!...ok! just kidding...but you get the picture...basically told the CO the USC is not big on pictures....Visa was issued despite that. I think sometimes the COs want to see an applicant who exudes confidence. Easier said than done when it seems, at that point, that a whole lot is riding on the moments at hand.

As a personal testimony, i had been bounced from Eleke many times (even though all attempts were for very valid reasons). When i finally got the visa, i had developed an attitude of "whatever". That attitude, in hindsight, may have depicted some non-chalance to whether i travel or not and may have played a big role in securing me the Visa. Okay we are talking pre-911 so throw all those rules and actions out the window.

It is a different ball game today where even those that have clearly demonstrated, by previous trips, an absolute indifference to living or staying in US have been bounced. The stories that filter through these days? Shocking, appalling and troubling....

I too used to be very worried about the face to face interview. I think we all have to remember a few things:

1. This is done on a case by case basis when these visas are issued. One case may have more photos, one may have more emails or phone records etc. I think that one should present what you have...all that you have and have, of course, carefully reviewed with your Fiance. David & I only have 35 or so pics also, but we have about $2,200 in phone bills, over 200 emails, letters we posted to each other etc...Even some of my family and friends have written David, so he has their cards/letters too.

2. Then you have to remember that the CO is a human being. It could be that the CO's cat died, his mother is ill, she is feeling tired, he has a bowel disorder...the point is...you NEVER know with humans...unpredictable!

3. Remember to have faith in your SO. He or she will just do the best they can with all the evidence that you two have. PRAY and be sincere. I would suggest eye contact and gentleness show.

That's all you can do...YOUR VERY BEST! So I try not to worry, but BOY, do David and I prepare ALOT!

I wish Taye and your SO the BEST of WISHES on your interview. :star: Please stop by and let us know how it goes!
