Drivers License and Permanent Resident Card Expiry Linked

Early days, but just curious: my temporary Permanent Resident Card and Drivers License (which the expiry date is linked to the PRC) expires end of May 2013. I intend to file the ROC 90 days prior to expiry of the PRC as requested, BUT, what happens if if takes longer than 90 days to process? Will the DMV give me an extension? Anyone have any experience with this? I'm in Baltimore, Maryland btw.

Thanks in advance.

Your NOA1 might be the document that BMV is accepting, extending your license for a year.

K1 process, October 2010 > POE, July 2011

I-129F approved in 180 days from NOA1 date. (195 days from filing to NOA2 in hand)

Interview took 224 days from I-129F NOA1 date. (241 days from filing petition until visa in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until POE: 285 days

AOS process, December 2011 > July 2012

EAD/AP Approval took 51 days from NOA1 date to email update. (77 days from filing until EAD/AP in hand)

AOS Approval took 206 days from NOA1 date to email update. (231 days from filing until greencard in hand)

From filing I-129F petition until greencard in hand: 655 days

Your ROC will most definitely take more than 90 days to process. You should prepare for it to take 8-10 months at Vermont.

Usually the DMV will accept your extension letter (NOA1) as proof of your current legal status to allow you to renew your license. However, this is state specific so you may want to check with your local DMV.

Thanks both, I'll contact our DMV. I tell ya, I'm constantly perplexed by this process...if it takes more than 90 days why don't they just have us start earlier? Jees.
