Hi, I checked our visa status online and saw this.

On October 22, 2012, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283

What happens now or is that it?

I'm only asking because I've not even had to have an interview or anything since sending the package off

Have we been one of the lucky ones who have had it skipped?

You just got passed the first stage. You still need to continue the process through the National Visa Center. Good Luck

I think that is just the first step. The I-130 is just an application to sponsor, that is not the actual visa application which will follow.

Part 1 of your approval... CONGRATS!

This means your case is being forwarded to the NVC (National Visa Centre).

If there are no visas currently available, it could be a bit of a wait, but if there are spaces available...

Very soon you will be notified:

-of your case number and how to login to the ceac website.

-to pay some fees.

-to send in your agent form (online or snailmail depending on country and consulate). This form is simple, it's just for contact info.

Suggestions:

-START PREPPING your AOS (Affidavit of Support) package. Once you pay your AOS fee and IV fee, you can mail this in. No need to waste time prepping it after they ask for it

-find out if your consulate does electronic processing... If yes, send your OPTIN email to the NVC immediately. It takes them about 2weeks to accept this request. Once the request is accepted, you'll no longer have to wait for snail mail, and can send the rest of your forms in online.

Once your fees are paid and your agent form sent in, you can:

-send in your AOS package

-and complete your IV form

Congratulations! You survived the USCIS! Now it's time for NVC! In about two weeks you will be able to get a case number and keep going!

Cheers, I did think that it had all gone too smoothly, still took 5 months for that to go through, but at least we sent the forms etc in without having to change anything
