I just gathered all these documents to apply I-130 and G-325A on end of October or early November 2012.

1 Filled I -130 signed by US citizen

2 G-325A each (one for US citizen another one for alien)

Supporting documents :

1 marriage certificate

2 copy of his naturalization certificate

3 passport type photo of mine (as per specification)

4 the copy of my birth certificate

5 copy of my passport (Do I need to copy the whole book or just the first page and a few others?)

6 some pictures from wedding which was held in States(I thought of putting our picture with Judge, with friends, exchanging rings...)

7 I changed my beneficiey name in both my bank account and insurance. So, I will put these two documents. He cant do at his company benefit plan right now but he can change at his bank. So, he will put that one.

8 my employment letter in Canada

9 his employment letter

Do I need to put the copy of my Canadian PR card? I chose Montreal, Canada as my interview place.

Please advise if I need to gather some more supporting documents.

Thanking you all in advance.

Employment information is not needed until the next stage when you go to NVC. You need some evidence of a bonafide relationship. How you communicate, chats, IM's emails, Skyping, letters to each other. Your Canadian peeps will chime in and give you better stuff I am sure to load up with.

Case Complete to Interview spreadsheet

From now on your VJ Member name will be verified. If the name you put on form to be added to spreadsheet comes up not found, you will not be added to the spreadsheet. If you don't have a timeline you will not be added to the spreadsheet.

Please Please put your VJ member name only. Not nicknames or real names whatever your VJ name is. It's below your profile picture!!

Honestly, since we are in States and Canada, we only use gtalk or voice chat or video chat. I think I should make the copy of birthday cards to file with. Thank you for your advice.

If you look at the guide you only need proof of the USC's citizenship which means either a naturalization certificate, entire passport, or birth certificate.

You also should include a passport type photo of each of your with your G325A.

For supporting documents you need proof of a bona fide marriage. So like the previous person stated: proof of a joint bank account, both names on a lease or bills or insurance, life insurance stating the other person as the beneficiary, Skype logs (screen shots if you can't dl them), texts, emails, phone records, chats, pictures (labelled), boarding passes, and affidavits from friends and family. Basically things that show you have an ongoing marital union as best as you can. You do not need employment letters at this point. The USC can send one in with their Affidavit of Support (AOS) at the NVC stage along with tax transcripts anf pay stubs to prove employment.

Go through the guide here and you'll find it pretty useful!

Congrats and good luck.

You can include copies of the envelope to show you guys are sending the cards :-). My husband didn't keep them so we didn't have them to send. Lol!

Thank you, Niki. Glad to know that you are from Canada as well. I dont have envelope of the cards as I threw these. But I do keep the cards. Hope I will make the good copy of the cards and send to them, lol... I only use video chat or voice chat. So, I dont have any log of these. I hope the beneficiary of each other can be a good one. I do not keep the boarding passes but I have the stamps to states for two time. These all went to him only. HOpe this might help me somehow. Thanks again.

Photocopies of the stamps could help as it shows you're crossing the border, just not to where. My gtalk keeps a record of conversations, so if you have that feature enabled (it's on by default, just check "chats" in your gmail) you could send those as well. Skype logs or screen shots of the skype page showing your calls to one another and messages if you utilize the IM feature also shows you have an ongoing relationship.

Canada isn't a high fraud country so we don't have to front load (produce a tonne of evidence) like some other countries do. But it's still a good idea to prove you are trying to live as close to a married couple as possible as people can when we're not actually living together. Any proof that you've physically resided in the same residence for a signifigant amount of time is very beneficial. Emails, photos (especially those with family and friends), or affidavits from friends and family help too.

In our I-130 package we sent:

  • I-130 petition
  • copy of USC birth certificate
  • G325a and passport photo for him
  • G325a and passport photo of me
  • copy of final divorce decree
  • copy of our marriage certificate
  • copy showing joint account
  • copy of vehicle insurance
  • copy of my boarding passes and his itineraries
  • affidavits from my mom (a Reverend and who married us) and his best friend (a Ssgt in the USAF)
  • 4 photos of us together
  • 2 photos of our wedding with the wedding party

If we get an RFE we'll send emails, chats and skype screens, more photos and whatever else they need. I'll admit since immigrating to the USA was not our first choice, we just didn't bother to keep all the stuff. We should have because Canadian immigration probably would have required it anyhow. But you never think about somethings until it's too late and you need it. Hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

Thank you so much, Niki. It helps a lot. I kept some of the things for my personal as well as something sweet to have these, right. For boarding passes, I did not keep these as they have record that when did I go and when did I come and where did I go. Anyway, I will look for the itineraries in my mails. I will print the photos of us this weekend and will try to submit on end of Oct or early Nov. Thanks again.
