I have read a lot of different posts regarding having a sponsor for k1 visa in USEM Manila. I am now getting so worried as I am making under poverty level for family of 3, the poverty level is at 23800 and only 19800 is what I am making. I saw a post that said I should make at least 100% and then they'll look at my sponsor's then will decide. And sponsor must be a close family which my father is willing to do. I already thought of working an extra day but I hate to do that since I don't have anyone to watch over my daughter and that extra money will ended up to a babysitter. My K1 application is at 4 months now and I am starting to research about the supporting papers and getting myself overly confused and worried. Any input will be appreciated just to get my mind at ease. Thanks a lot.

$23,862 is the annualized income amount that you must meet. Manila does accept joint sponsors, but that is not 100%.

Without adequate financial sponsorship, a visa will not be issued.

It's actually 125% of the poverty guidelines but you're right you will need at least $23, 900 for family of 3. If you'll use your father as co-sponsor and he will need to fill out I-864 and you'll fill out the I-134.

A friendly note: Petitioners in fiancé(e) (K1) nonimmigrant visa cases are generally expected to provide the adequacy of their own financial resources to ensure that an alien, after admission into the United States, will not become primarily dependent on the US Government for subsistence. While our immigration law does not disallow joint sponsorships for K nonimmigrant visa applicants, the mere submission of an I-134 Affidavit of Support from joint sponsors is not sufficient to establish that the alien is not likely to become a public charge. Accordingly, we make a thorough evaluation of other factors, such as the sponsor's motives in submitting the Form I-134, the sponsor's relationship to the applicant or petitioner, the length of time the sponsor and applicant have known each other, etc. An I-134 Affidavit of Support submitted by a casual friend or distant relative who has little or no personal knowledge of the applicant has limited value. Unlike the I-864 filed by joint sponsors in immigrant visa cases, the I-134 is not legally binding and imposes no legal obligation on the joint sponsor to make good on his or her promises. Please be assured that we look at the totality of circumstances in assessing the credibility of joint sponsorships.

Co-sponsorship in USEM will not guarantee an approved visa and will evaluate on a case-to-case basis.

Good luck!!

This is one of our problems before. My fiance is just earning below 125% of the poverty guidelines and UsEmbassy Manila doesn't accept co-sponsorship, it does sometimes, if you'll have a promising job that awaits, for example.. graduating college students that will soon be earning degrees; but note that this is case to case basis but usually, they don't. However, what I can suggest if it's that hard to find a job immediately that will pull an increase to your salary, what you can guys do is get a second job. My fiance has been offered a new job and decided to keep the last job and will work 16 hours/week, just to be on the safe side.
