Has anybody successfully flown with PAL using a travel agency? I have reward points through my credit card enough to buy a ticket for free. The problem is that PAL requires a copy of the credit card used and the photo ID of the credit card owner. Since I will be using a third party company and wouldn't pay a dime on the ticket, I do not know what to show the check-in counter.

The travel agency let you bring a copy of THEIR credit card?

No. In my understanding, you will still be using your credit card for the reward points. It's better to ask PAL first hand, since you'll be using reward points to purchase a ticket.

I agree in that even though you have enough points on your CC to get the ticket at no cost, I believe that your CC number is still used as the purchasing card with the travel agent. They are just the agent and PAL should see that the travel agent's purchase is for you, the card owner/holder. My guess is that you will make copies of that CC and your photo ID to be shown to PAL at the boarding, but as suggested, either call PAL yourself and explain and get the answer straight from them, or let your travel agent do it. You can also have the travel agent call PAL with you conferenced in so you can witness what transpires between the two and get proper instruction that way. I had to do this with PAL and Expedia back in January for my then fiancee's flight to SFO from MNL. I wasn't using rewards points but I was trying to meet Chie at SFO with her from MNL and me from eastern US. Everything was arranged until PAL changed my fiancee's flight to a later one throwing the timing of all flights including mine off! What a mess, but I had to have both PAL and Expedia on the line at the same time to get mostly my flights adjusted and changed so I could meet Chie at SFO and me not having to pay change fees for Chie and my flight from SFO to here and my flights there to meet her because of PAL's changing her flight from MNL to SFO. It was a hassle but I didn't have to pay change fees except for the first leg of my flight to SFO but not for the others and PAL put us up over night in SFO so Chie and I could fly back here together the next day.

Anyway, yours should not be as difficult as mine was cuz you're just trying to find out how to properly meet that requirement of having photo copies of purchasing CC and photo ID for the boarding of the flight.

God bless and hope this helps.

You can directly transact with PAL. No need to go thru a 3rd party travel agency.

Send the person (who's going to use the plane ticket) clear photocopies of your CC and valid ID.

Since I won't be paying for the ticket, the transaction would not show my credit card. It will show the corportate credit card of the travel agency. I think it's a great idea to have the travel agency talk to PAL so they can authorize the transaction.

Why would I go directly with PAL to pay them over $1000 when I get it a ticket for free?

To anybody who's interested. This is the reply that I got from PAL.

Credit card presentation will only be needed for ticket purchase through www.philippineairlines.com

Your credit card issuer will purchase the ticket for your mother at our PAL sales office. Once the ticket has been purchased, kindly provide the booking reference number in order for us to check and provide feedback.
